It is one night you won’t want to miss.
For the third consecutive year the International Hot Rod
Association’s fastest, most exciting racers return to the quarter-mile at the
famed Southwestern International Raceway for the Arizona Nitro Jam presented by
Good Vibrations Motorsports and CarSafe March 23 beginning at 7 p.m.
The one-night-only show will feature one of the most unique and
thrilling Nitro Jam lineups in series history as many of the most famous names
in nostalgia nitro racing do battle on the desert track capped off with a
series first – an 8,000 horsepower Top Fuel Dragster battling a 10,000
horsepower jet-powered dragster.
Steven Densham's "Teachers Pet" Funny Car
The high horsepower showdown will pit former series champion
Bruce Litton in his bright orange nitro-powered 320 mph Top Fuel Dragster
against the jet-powered “Invader” dragster driven by Curt Eierdam. While Litton
will have all of the advantage off of the line, reaching speeds in excess of
100 mph in less than one second, Eierdam will showcase his power on the top end
as his Pratt & Whitney jet engine pushes him toward 300 mph at 5 g of acceleration.
Both machines will put on a spectacular show with fire
filling the night air and a mixture of sounds unmatched in motorsports.
But that is only part of the show Nitro Jam has in store.
Joining the dragster battle will be eight of the most
recognizable names in all of nostalgia nitro racing. Funny Car fans will be in
for a treat as such famous names as “Candies & Hughes”, “Teacher’s Pet” and
“Bays & Rupert” square off in AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car, while old
school race fans will relish in the out-of-control excitement of Nostalgia Fuel
Altered starring such legends as “Nanook”, “Rat Trap” and “Arizona Thunder.”
2007 IHRA Top Fuel World Champion Bruce Litton
Wrapping up the evening will be the incredible fire show of
the 30,000 horsepower Super Shockwave jet truck, the amazing “Candyland”
wheelstanding stage coach driven by drag racing legend Ed Jones and a huge
fireworks and pyrotechnics display.
Don’t miss a minute of the action at the season-opening
Arizona Nitro Jam presented by Good Vibrations and CarSafe March 23 at
Southwestern International Raceway.
