Tear-inducing smells fill the air, deafening roars pierce the ears and the ground shakes with every whack of the throttle.   

Ah yes, Nitro Jam must be in town.   

Indeed Nitro Jam is in town and ready to rock Baton Rouge this weekend beginning with the huge opener Friday evening at the Mardi Gras Nitro Jam presented by Domino's Pizza. The world’s best AMSOIL Prostalgia™ Nitro Funny Cars are on the property, as well as nitro-powered Pro Fuel Dragsters, Nitro Harleys and Fuel Altereds. There are jets here too, five of them to be exact. Two jet dragsters, two jet funny cars and the always thrilling Super Shockwave jet semi are all ready to fill the Louisiana sky with smoke and fire the likes of which fans have never seen before.   

And oh yeah, Grave Digger and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle monster trucks are here as well, ready to do battle in the world’s first monster truck drag race. These trucks are barely able to fit in their own lanes, so two side-by-side passes should be something to behold.   

And it all gets underway Friday night beginning with the FanFest Pit Party at 6:30 p.m. Fans can tour the pits, get autographs, take part in any number of activities for kids and adults alike and even be a part of Nitro Thunder where all of the nitro cars on the property fire up at once shaking the ground and filling the air with the sweet, burning smell of nitro.   

Nitro Jam will get underway at 8 p.m. with two full rounds of nitro, jet and monster truck racing at speeds approaching 300 miles per hour. It will certainly be a night fans won’t forget and it all gets underway this Friday.   

Nitro Jam will feature show number two on Saturday with FanFest at 6:30 p.m. and two more rounds of Nitro Jam beginning at 8 p.m.
