In anticipation of one of the largest motorsports events in the state of Utah this Friday and Saturday, Salt Lake City mayor Ralph Becker has officially declared that Friday, June 17 will be “Salt Lake Nitro Jam Day” in the city in advance of the Salt Lake Nitro Jam presented by NAPA Auto Parts this weekend at Rocky Mountain Raceways.

"We are very honored to have Salt Lake Mayor Ralph Becker acknowledge our 2011 Nitro Jam event with his proclamation of June 17 being Salt Lake Nitro Jam Day," said Mike Eames, General Manager at Rocky Mountain Raceways. "It is out biggest race of the 2011 season here at Rocky Mountain Raceways that attracts some of the best racers in the county to the Salt Lake Valley. To have the support of the local community is awesome."
In the official proclamation, Mayor Becker describes what a positive impact it is to have fans and drivers from all corners of the country in attendance at the Salt Lake City-based facility and what it means to have such a high-caliber motorsports event come to the area and encourages “all residents of the area to participate and enjoy these days of professional competition.”
The Salt Lake Nitro Jam, featuring the world’s quickest and fastest race machines, will get underway this Friday with local sportsman racing throughout the afternoon followed by FanFest at 6:30 p.m. and two rounds of Nitro Jam beginning at 8 p.m. The same schedule will apply to Saturday’s action as fans can come meet the stars and see their favorite cars up close beginning at 6:30 p.m. with FanFest followed by the Salt Lake Nitro Jam “Night of Fire” Saturday night beginning at 8 p.m.
