If there is one thing Nitro Jam is known for other than its great nitro racing it is its incredible Pro Modified competition.

As the inventor of the incredible doorslammer class, the International Hot Rod Association’s Nitro Jam series helped mold the class into what it is today and, even though the series has cut back on Pro Modified racing over the past few years, the class still holds a special place in its heart. And to help celebrate the class and the largest drag racing party of the year, Nitro Jam will be bringing back over a dozen of the fastest Outlaw Pro Modifieds in the south to compete in front of the huge Louisiana crowds at the upcoming Mardi Gras Nitro Jam at State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge.

The Outlaw Pro Modified class will be competing for an Ironman and Mardi Gras glory while joining five additional nitro classes and dozens of extras including jet dragsters, wheelstanders and the huge finale between the 30,000 horsepower Shockwave and the Maximum Overkill monster truck making the Nitro Jam at State Capitol Raceway one of the biggest Nitro Jam events of the entire season.

And as part of the six professional classes, Louisiana fans will once again enjoy, for the third year in a row, the roar of outlaw doorslammer racing powering to the eighth mile.

Last year a contingent of eight Outlaw Pro Mods were on hand and in 2011 that number will be bumped to over a dozen competitors vying for eight spots at one of the quickest and fastest tracks in the south. Joseph Palmissano, behind the wheel of his ’68 Corvette, stole the show last year by defeating Steve Benoit in the final.

Race fans don’t miss the biggest Nitro Jam event in the south as five nitro classes, including Top Fuel and Pro Fuel Dragsters, Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Fuel Altereds and Nitro Harleys, join the daredevils of the Outlaw Pro Modified division in the most exciting and fun race of the season.
